Meade's new Advanced Coma-Free System - powerful and high-precision - is within the reach of all ambitious amateur astronomers, astrophotographers and CCD photographers! It provides perfectly sharp star images, at the highest professional observatory level, over the entire field of view. The secret of coma-free system is - as the name says - the complete absence of coma, an optical aberration in which starlight is distorted and pulled into comet-like tails outside the central part of the image. Whether forobserving or photography, the ACF Cassegrain optics from Meade is way ahead of conventional mass produced telescopes. It offers fantastic image quality, previously only available from Ritchey Chrétien telescopes and other exotic systems costing several times as much as the Meade system.

The Meade LX90 mount:

Observing the starry sky is now even easier: The new Meade LX90 mount requires no previous knowledge of the night sky and needs no complicated alignment procedure.Simple set it up and off you go! The built-in electronic compass and alignment sensor make operating the LX90 very straightforward and the new red dot finder means you don't lose sight of the big picture. All you have to do is to confirm a pre-positioned reference star suggested by the mount. The mount works on the same principle as large professional observatories and already has the positioning data for over 30,000 celestial objects, including comets, asteroids and artificial satellites, in the AutoStar hand box supplied. All of these objects can be slewed to quickly, precisely, quietly, and reliably. The computer-optimized double fork mount means very high stability, whatever the orientation of the OTA, and is also extremely light weight. The proven, height-adjustable Meade tripod ensures an almost vibration-free setup: an important aspect, which contributes significantly to the overall performance of the system.
