Hole saws — Description

Bi-metal hole saws cut a round hole with a clean edge in one pass where a normal drill bit is too small and a jigsaw leaves a ragged edge – for a socket in plasterboard, an LED downlight in the ceiling and a water pipe through a cupboard shelf. The category lists the bi-metal hole saw 51 mm, the bi-metal hole saw 70 mm and the bi-metal hole saw 83 mm. A bi-metal hole saw is a steel cylinder with a welded tooth edge of HSS high-speed steel that lasts 10 times longer than a carbon steel saw and cuts not only wood and plasterboard but also sheet metal up to 3 mm, aluminium, plastic and OSB board – the 4–6 mm variable tooth pitch does not vibrate, and the 38 mm cutting depth goes through two layers of plasterboard. 51 mm is the electrician's size for switch and socket boxes in furniture, an underfloor heating thermostat and a 50 mm ventilation pipe; 70 mm suits a shower mixer hole in a furniture panel, a 75 mm LED panel and a sink trap; 83 mm is the standard size for large recessed ceiling lights and an 80 mm ventilation pipe. The saws mount on an arbor with a pilot drill and hex shank bought separately, run in a drill at 300–600 rpm, and metal is oiled. Choose by hole – 51 for switches, 70 for a mixer, 83 mm for downlights, add the arbor with pilot drill. Fast delivery across Latvia.
