Fiber optic splitters — Description
Fibre optic splitters divide one optical signal among several subscribers – the basis of a GPON network in an apartment block and village, where one fibre from the carrier serves 4–16 flats. The category lists Qoltec PLC splitters 1x4, 1x8 and 1x16 with G.657A single-mode 0.9 mm fibre in three versions – with SC/PC connectors, with SC/APC connectors and bare for splicing, the Qoltec 1x16 fibre distribution box, plus optical adapters LC/APC square single-mode and LC/UPC simplex multimode. A PLC splitter divides light evenly with no power – 1x8 with 10.5 dB loss per output, 1x16 with 13.5 dB, so a 1x16 still reaches 20 km from the OLT. Green SC/APC connectors with an 8° angle are the GPON standard because they reflect less and suit TV, blue SC/PC suit data networks. The bare version splices straight into the cable with lower loss. G.657A fibre tolerates a 10 mm bend radius in a stairwell box. The 1x16 distribution box fixes the splitter and 16 pigtails to the wall. Choose by network – SC/APC for GPON subscribers, SC/PC for an internal LAN. Never mate APC with UPC adapters – it damages the connector face. Fast delivery across Latvia.
