The Ermenrich Ping MK40 digital clamp meter measures not only alternating current but also direct current as well as 6 other parameters: voltage (direct and alternating), resistance, frequency, capacitance, duty cycle, and temperature. There is also additional functionality that will be enough for these current clamps to become the user’s only device for solving the problems of both household and professional use.
Measurements are carried out using True RMS, and so the results are more accurate. There is a low-frequency filter (LPF) that cuts off various harmonics – this also increases the reliability of measurements. To compensate for residual magnetization when measuring direct current, you can set zero (DCA Zero).
Continuity mode is one of the basic operating modes of current clamp meters. It helps find open and short circuits. You can also test diodes for faults. In NCV mode (non-contact detection of high voltage), the device finds hidden wiring and sockets that contain electricity.
The LowZ function is not found in every device. With its help, the digital clamp meter is switched to low impedance mode – very low resistance. This significantly increases the accuracy of voltage measurements, which may drop due to interference from nearby electrical equipment or networks. In LowZ mode, the influence of interference on measurement accuracy is minimized.
The device runs on standard batteries. There is a built-in flashlight for working in dark rooms and a Data Hold function that allows you to access the readings on the screen after measurements (it “freezes” the result on the screen).
