Makarov CO2 Pistol

The Makarov pistol was developed in 1948 as a self-loading pistol for the 9mm Makarov caliber by the Soviet designer Nikolai Makarov and, according to Russian tradition, named after its designer. Like the original, this CO2 model also features a double-action/single-action system, all functionally relevant controls, and a movable slide. Its robust construction is particularly evident in the fact that all important components such as the grip, slide, and external controls are made entirely of metal.

The Makarov pistol has been produced since 1949 with a simple blowback action and has been used for over 50 years as a service weapon by the Russian (formerly Soviet) army and police. Its design is based on the Walther PPK. The main production facility is still located in the Russian city of Izhevsk. The pistol is available in many different versions, which were and are manufactured in China, the former GDR, Bulgaria, and Yugoslavia. Particularly in the Warsaw Pact countries, the Makarov is still very widespread.
